-Eat healthy and nourishing foods the day of your session unless you are fasting or on a specific Detox Program. It may include:
o Raw fruits
o Lightly steamed, low starch vegetables
o Organic raw nuts and seeds
o Plenty of omega 3, 6, 9, coconut oils, avocados and cold pressed plant oils like olive and sesame oil
o Wild caught fish
A day before your appointment drinking 16 to 32 ounces of raw fruit of veggie juice can be really helpful. Drinking the raw juice a day prior to your colonic helps loosen wastes in the body and starts the cleansing process in advance.
A great cleansing formula is: One head romaine lettuce or equal to that amount in celery, 5-6 stalks kale, 1-2 apples, 1 whole lemon, 1-2 tablespoons fresh ginger (go all organic if you can).
Eating a meal two to four hours before your colonic is ideal, but no food or beverage should be consumed in the two hours before your appointment.
Avoid dairy products, red meats, shell fish, processed carbohydrates (white rice, pasta, etc.), fried foods, sugar, carbonated beverages for as long as you can leading up to your appointment.

~Supports Awareness and Transformation Should I use the Closed-in System or Open system? A closed-in system refers specifically to the equipment and method used by the therapist and facility. This chosen method offers an experience that differs from, what the colonic industry calls, an 'open system'. One is not necessarily better than the other, but the overall experience is completely different for the client. It then boils down to client preference. A closed-in system is just as the name implies, completely closed-in, so there are no bodily noises or odors that are experienced during the therapy. The closed-in method is always therapist-assisted, since the therapist needs to be in the room with you to work the device. The device does not work on its own as with an open system. The client is situated comfortably on a standard massage bed with standard bedding/sheets and the entire duration of the therapy provides an open dialogue between the client and the therapist. Coaching from your therapist with this system gives you insight about your progress on the table. Your therapist will typically implement abdominal massage, pressure-point massage, aromatherapy as well as breathing techniques and will encourage you to talk or to meditate/pray to facilitate the cathartic nature of colon cleansing. It is based on your comfort and needs. Typically, closed-in colonics are offered at a higher rate (cost) per session due to the one-on-one coaching between you and your therapist for the entire duration of your cleansing session. Furthermore, closed-in colonics tend to run at a slower pace and are a bit gentler, yet still very effective; further, people who have gut hypersensitivity tend to have more tolerance for the closed-in method, as it is gentle on the nervous system. Will One Session Do The Job? One session will only empty part of the colon. It is recommended in the beginning always to do back to back sessions.
If the is a severe congestion another two sessions suggested the following week and then only one colonic a week for the following weeks.
After completion of necessary amount of maximum twelve sessions, most clients return every few months for maintenance purposes. What If I'm On My Period? Colon Hydrotherapy is perfectly safe during this time, and can decrease the cramping that typically accompanies your period. Is Colon Hydrotherapy Habit Forming? Color Hydrotherapy retrains the muscle or bowel to regain strength. After 12 or more sessions, many people regain the normal bowel function of one movement per day. A healthy bowel may have two to three bowel movements a day, depending on what you eat. Trouble is usually recognized by an individual as constipation or diarrhea. These danger signs along with foul smelling stool and gas may be overlooked. Golden brown used to be considered the normal color, but now that vegetables are recommended, the color reflects the vegetables.
During constipation, you may observe a darkening of the stool because of the much longer transition time in your system. The colon will distribute the results of decay, fermentation and putrefaction into the blood.
Dr. William Tyler, ND Can I Add Anything To My Colonic Session? Yes. You can choose to have light therapy, essential oils, a castor oil pack, a coffee enema or a cleansing enema. |
